According to the American Music Therapy Association or AMTA, “Music Therapy is the clinical and evidence-based use of music interventions to accomplish individualized goals within a therapeutic relationship by a credentialed professional who has completed an approved music therapy program. Music Therapy is an established health profession in which music is used within a therapeutic relationship to address physical, emotional, cognitive, and social needs of individuals.”
In regards to myself as a clinician, I believe in a person-first neurodiversity-affirming practice. My work comes from an authentic and cooperative therapeutic space. I derive majority of my work from a humanistic and person first perspective. I believe in creating not only a safe space, but a brave one for individuality, self-expression and creativity.
